Thunder Pitching Order Set

Friday's starter Ryan Pope

Thanks to pitching coach Tommy Phelps for setting us straight on the exact order, because I would have screwed the whole thing up.  (Editor’s note: Have to admit it’s kinda nice to write ‘screwed’ without fear of reprisal from the edit police)

Anyway, here it is:

Thursday, 7:05 pm: RHP Christian Garcia

Friday, 7:05 pm: RHP Ryan Pope

Saturday, 5:05 pm: LHP Jeremy Bleich

Sunday, 1:05 pm: RHP David Phelps

RHP D.J. Mitchell gets the ball for the series opener against Akron Monday

* More from media day later on, but the quote of the day, not surprisingly, came from Pope, who does not really have a filter (and that’s a very good thing).

“I am here (at Double-A) to make it to the big leagues,” Pope said. “I’m not here to stay.”

That’s great stuff from a kid that went 5-12 with a 4.78 ERA last season.

* Bleich is believed to be the only player not in attendance today.  The left-hander apparently was held back in Tampa, Fla., to throw a side session and is en route.
